APG video card or PCI-e?

Couldn't get more simple than that, could it? o_O

PCI-e, since I spent all the damn money on the SLI, which ONLY uses PCI-e. Having used AGP Radeon before, I can say PCI-e is better preeeetty damn safely.

*BUT IT'S A PAIN IN THE ASS! PCI-e motherboards DON'T have an AGP card, so if you buy that MB and processor, you can't use it until you spend another wad of cash on a new PCI-e card. LAME*

No, you need one with the PCI-e slot built right into it. It's nothing like your standard PCI, and nothing BUT a PCI-e card can fit into it. As far as I know, only ASUS is making these motherboards with PCI-e.

you DEFINITELY want pci-e because ALL new cards will be in that format ... plus pci-e cards are 2 times as good and are usually cheaper or the same cost as their AGP equivalents....

If you want to know if you have AGP or PCI-e then you could use this procedure (I know it works for the nVidia Geforce cards if you have updated drivers - not sure about others)

Desktop>Right Click>Properties>Settings>Advanced>Geforce Tab (The one with the green icon)
On this tab it should "Graphics Card Information"
Below that should be a row that says "Bus: xxxxxx"
That should tell you whether you have AGP or not

Like a compact AGP port, but instead of a plastic lever to hook in, it's more like a plastic loop.

PCIe... If you want Nvidia you sort of have to get PCIe because they stopped supporting AGP. But thats ok, ATI is better anyway.

PCIe is what all of the high performance cards are though, so thats what you get.

Errm. ATI isn't "Better." Their fastest cards are less than half the speed of nVidia's fastest cards in SLI. Until ATI finds a counter measure to SLI, and finds a way to buy out ASUS, they're in trouble (Check their stocks. That's always a good way to see where they stand).

Think of what you said though.

Two flagship cards means twice the power (consumed), twice the heat, and twice the cost.

One X1900 XTX will outperform a single 7800gtx 512, and since that handy little thing called crossfire exists, I believe they can outperform if anyone is dumb enough to have two overpowered videocards.

Yes I know Nvidia is releasing a new Card soon.
Yes it will own.

So until then my argument stands.

And when that happens... ATI makes better AGP cards!

It is really a moot point to say which card maker is better. They are all fast. I just look for the best price vs performance at the time of purchase. Myself I ended up with a ATI X800XL PCIe 256Mb card because at the time the 6800GT was a $100.00 more. They are pretty much the same class card.

This card will last me until I upgrade or buy a new system a couple of years from now. By then there will be a whole new batch of cards out. I look at it as that I have a fast enough system for what I need now. My card is not the fastest or has all the bells & whistles but, it is better then allot of people have overall and I am happy/thankful with what I can afford now.
